1977 – It all started with a surfboard…

Perudo was founded in 1977, bringing engineering skill and creative thinking to both industrial and leisure projects.

Windsurfing was the rapidly emerging water sport in the UK – and our perseverance and ingenuity right from the design stage resulted in Perudo pioneering the manufacture of the Sea Panther board. More than 2000 of this hugely-successful windsurfer board were produced from our site.

1981 UK Royal Wedding gifts

Just a few years in and the Sea Panther windsurfer was chosen among the many gifts presented for the July 1981 British Royal Wedding.

Seen here displayed at St James’ Palace London, which attracted more than 110,000 visitors – it is a testament to the quality and innovation that still drives our team at Perudo today.

Manufacturing through the 80s

From crane housings to contemporary furniture, horsebox roofs to calf-feeders, musical instrument cases to industrial lawnmower covers, you could almost say Perudo’s factory saw it all.

Our mission of adaptable manufacturing & engineered creativity, our culture of integrity and respect for our clients, stakeholders and staff and our valuation of long-term trusted relationships, carries forward to today.

An era of PU roto-moulding

Our team was tasked by a multi-national company to develop a method of manufacturing hollow mouldings in one-piece. The goal was to increase production rates, improve quality and decrease post-production finishing.

Working with raw material chemists, our tenacity and engineering ingenuity resulted in perfecting a ground-breaking method of rotationally-moulding thermosetting polyurethane.

Sitting between labour-intensive GRP hand lay-up and the high set-up costs of thermoplastic moulding routes, we utilised this technology to produce thousands of mouldings across the leisure, retail and aquaculture industries.

Sustainability
commitments

Review – Refine – Repeat

Long-term sustainability is an important part of our culture. We minimise waste wherever possible, reprocessing, repurposing, upcycling or recycling materials.

All of our EPS polystyrene recycling is handled using in-house facilities, compacting unused or offcut material at 40:1 ratio into dense briquettes for efficient transportation to dedicated recycling centres, where it is 100% manufactured into a range of new products.

Where recycling isn’t an option, our goal is zero waste-to-landfill. Our waste management partner diverts mixed waste for recycling, and any remaining material is converted into renewable energy for local communities.

We understand that sustainable practices throughout our operations demand a continuous cyclical process. This goal leads to efficiencies, enhanced environmental and financial sustainability and to a legacy for the future generations.

Each year, we dedicate a proportion of our projected profits to The Grace Trust and the Rapid Relief Team.

These charities support a wide range of causes, from providing essential aid to vulnerable communities to funding projects that make a real difference. Through this work, we’re proud to play a small part in helping communities thrive and supporting initiatives that help people in need.
